Joined families

Sunday brought in a great family. I was contacted by Lisa saying she was friends with some of my other clients and really liked my work and prices and asked to schedule a session. We got them in right away and it was quite an experience working with a bunch of little ones. Well they weren't all little. They ranged from age 17 to 1, siblings and cousins! But it was a fun group to work with and among the chaos with the big crowd, we got some good shots!

With an old friend

Its amazing how life works. Brings and takes people from your lives when you least expect it. That's pretty much what happened in my situation. I really don't talk to all that many people from high school. Granted, I haven't been out of school all that long...four years. But after finding an old classmate on "facebook," a new friendship, or old one I suppose, started (again).

I was excited when Allison and her fiance T.J. asked me to do their engagement photos. Its fun to shoot someone that you grew up with for several years. I still have a difficult time deciding if its easier to shoot people you know or don't know :)

But anyways, Allison and T.J. were great. I look forward to their new arrive in April and hope I'll get the opportunity to shoot their baby also. I love babies! And it will be so much fun to have our kids a month apart! :)
Here are some shots of them.

Love is in the air

Ok well I'm a little behind...

Last Sunday was a day filled with love. I had a great opportunity to do engagement pictures for a well known athlete in the area, and it was so much fun! Katie and her fiance John are both golfers and I had so many great ideas. However, some of those ideas weren't accomplished during this shoot because I was specifically told they don't want their wedding revolved around golf, since they do it everyday. Understandable! We still had lots of fun, and it was great getting to know them. I look forward to doing their wedding in July 2010 and was very excited to have my first local engagement shoot! :)
Here are some shots captured from that day.

Good day...

I was given a great opportunity today. One that I feel will really further my business, but more importantly, start new friendships.
I was asked a few months ago, after my husband kindly jump started a citizen's car, while at the local gas station, to help a church in need. It turns out that this fellow citizen was Pastor Jennifer Daniel of the Conrad United Methodist Church and the church board had been looking for a photographer to update their church directory.
After my husband had lend a hand, he began talking with Pastor Jennifer, and some how they got on the conversation of my photography business. In return for helping her out, he received her number and I called her the next day.
So to make a long story short, and after everything was set up, I was asked to photograph the United Methodist Church's congregation for the church directory. Today was my first day doing so, and I have to say things went pretty smooth! Their was quite a bit of down time between sessions, because I was unaware of how long to plan a "session" with each client. But it all worked out great and look forward to Tuesday's scheduled times too.
Hope to post some pictures soon from the day....a good day :)

Starting out on this blogging business...

OK, so I thought it was time to start out on this blogging business. I've seen a lot of photographers do it, and a few clients of mine have asked me if I do. I've contemplated it for awhile, wondering if I had the time, would remember to do it, etc. and thought what the heck, I might as well try. So here I go...nothing too extravagant.
Once I'm finished with this first blog, my objective and goal is to blog after each sitting, reflecting on the memories caputred for that day. I promise to do my best not to leave any clients out and if I do, please tell me!
So please continue to read as I put my first attempt into this very scary situation :)
